Q.
What channel modes are available ?

A.
Note, modes are case sensitive.
+b - Ban - Prevents a specified hostmask from joining the channel.
+c - No colour codes - Lines containing colour codes are blocked.
+C - No CTCP's - You cannot send CTCP messages to the channel.
+i - Invite only - Users cannot join the channel unless they have been invited by an op in that channel.
+k - Key - Places a password on the channel.
+l - Limit - Prevents more than the specified number of users joining the channel.
+m - Moderated - Only users with op or voice can speak.
+n - No external messages - You cannot talk in / send messages to the channel unless you have joined it.
+N - No channel notices - /notice commands cannot be sent to the channel.
+o - Channel Operator - Specified nick can speak in moderated channels, change channel modes and topic. Receives @ before name in nicklist.
+p - Private - The channel will not appear when you /whois a user.
+r - Registered users only - Only people logged in to P can join the channel.
+s - Secret - The channel will not appear in /list or when you /whois a user.
+S - Strip colour codes - Similar to +c but still allows the message through but with the colour codes stripped.
+t - Only ops set topic - Pretty self explanatory.
+T - No multi target messages - If you message multiple channels with one command (eg. with /amsg) the message will not arrive in these channels.
+v - Voice - Specified nick can speak in the channel if moderated and receives a + before name in nicklist.

Q.
How do I register with P/Services?

A.
Go to the link from the and fill in the details. Emails should arrive within 15-30 minutes at absolute most. If you do not get an email, make sure you double check any junk/spam folders. If you still cannot find any email, enter #cservice and speak to a Senior/Nick Administrator who will be able to help you.

Note: email addresses almost always work and receive the emails.

A.
Go to the and login. From there there will be an option in the menu to the right-hand side entitiled CService Menu. After clicking on that, there will be the Channel Registration option in the new menu. Follow the instructions in the form and in the emails that you will receive upon submitting the application and upon its registration and wait for administrators to process the application.

Q.
How often are Channel Registration/Purge Applications accepted?

A.
Channel Registration/Purge Applications are processed as soon as possible, usually taking no longer than 30 minutes when administrators are available, but they can take longer at times of the day when less administrators are online. Channel Registrations can take about 15 minutes to enter the Pending List after both supporters accept, so they cannot be accepted instantly.

It is appreciated if Applications are not requested to be done and that administrators are not pestered about accepting them.

Q.
What is ping?
Why do I see PING? PONG! in the status window?
What is a ping timeout?

A.
A ping is a message sent from one client to another client (or server) in order to receive a response. It is useful for checking the time it takes for the receiever to receive the ping and thus work out how much lag they/you are suffering from, or to see if it is connected at all. The network frequently sends ping requests to the client in order to establish whether it is still responding or not. If a response is not received quickly enough, the network will remove the nickname from the network with a quit message of "Ping Timeout".

Q.
How does the command work?

A.
The command works by periodically increasing or decreasing the number of users allowed in the channel.

The time in between the limit change is controlled via the command.

After the specified length of time (in seconds) has passed P will check the current amount of users to the maximum number allowed. If the current amount of users is different to the current limit minus the then P will set the maximum users allowed to the current amount + the floatmargin.

Floating Limit is useful to stop massive join surges from spammers, botnets and the like.

Q.
How do I change my registered nickname?

A.
Join #cservice and ask for a Senior/Nick Administrator for assistance. You will need to disconnect in order for it can be changed. If you only want to change the case of the nick (such as from example to Example), you can do this via the , under CService Menu on the right-hand menu and then clicking Change Nick Case.

Q.
How do I change supporters in my channel?

A.
If the channel is more than 2 weeks old you may change the supporters by asking an Administrator in #cservice. You may change one or both supporters, and the new supporter(s) must be present to confirm that they wish to be supporters of your channel. A valid reason should also be given to the admin and your verification details will need to be taken.

Q. Can I own more than one nickname / botnicks?

A. Owning more than one nickname is not a problem, as long as this is not done in order to bypass rules such as the 3 channel limit per person, and provided you do not use more than one nickname owned by yourself on a channel application. For this reason, it is often just easier to own a bot nickname, which is a nickname linked to your main nick. It can operate normally in every way except that it cannot own or support channels. Other users will not know that you own that bot nick and will see it as a full nickname.

To register a botnick go to http://www.netgamers.org/ and login. Click on on Cservice Menu link and in the list navigate to "Bot NickName Registration" and follow the steps here.

When first created your botnick will have the same email address, verification question and password as your main nick. To change any of these click on "Bot Management" in the Cservice Menu list.
